Eileen and I went to grade school together- SBJL. We met when my family moved to 115th St in Richmond Hill. We lived across the street from one another and I was happy to have a girl to play with coming from a family of all boys!! Eileen and I played with our dolls and our toy kitchen endlessly. We especially loved playing paper dolls!! I remember her mom pulling her shopping cart up to the avenue to shop and her dad would take us on the train on a Sunday afternoon just to get a hot dog and orange drink at Nedick's. I remember the sound of the pigeons on the roof of her house!!!.
Those were such happy times. As we got older we didn't see each other often but we always thought of each other and we got married the same year. I was thrilled to be her Maid of Honor. As time went by, distance separated us but we kept up with cards and letters.
And now, my friend you have fulfilled your destiny and have left a legacy of courage and love and commitment to family for your husband, Bill and your children,Irene, Mark, Paul and Katherine.I know you will be watching over them. May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Until we meet again,
Mary

My deepest sympathy to the entire Schinkel family. Eileen and I were a team at CDC for six years. She was filled with energy, enthusiasm and laughter and over those six years she became more than just a co-worker; she was a dear friend. What a truly wonderful woman she was and how blessed I was to know her.

Dearest Schinkel Family -- I am so blessed to be able to know Eileen. She was a very loving mother and mother-in-law to my daughter. She was a pillar of strength and courage. We are all better off because she was in our lives. My love and deepest sympathies are with you. Nancy Hempstead
