Sheila and I loved you, Emma, and we miss you. There is an empty place on our couch, and in our hearts.
When you have a teenage daughter you also get her crew, but Emma and Lillie were particularly close. We loved seeing her infectious smile, hearing her cheerful "Hello Jellybean" to our Chihuahua; seeing her curled up on the couch on a weekend morning with one or both dogs; hearing her stories over dinner; watching them and their friends hanging out around the campfire, or dressed up for Homecoming and Prom; listening to the laughter from the family room. .
We had Emma in our lives over the past four years, and there are many memories. Emma joined us on two summer vacations and other trips. The picture on the boat is from a fishing charter off Rehobeth Beach catching sharks a few hundred yards from shore. But my favorite memory is from a few days later. when I took Emma and Lillie Ocean Kayaking.
Our "dolphin kayak tour" out of Lewes Delaware was just the three of us and a guide, who said if we were lucky we might see a dolphin or two, but no promises. My recollection is that neither Emma or Lillie had handled a kayak before; if so, it had been a long time. Any hesitation about getting in a kayak and going into the Delaware Bay disappeared when the girls saw our guide--he was 20-something, buff, tanned and bearded. We were not far from shore when Emma flipped her kayak over. She claimed it was an accident, but she did not mind being rescued by our guide.
Just a short while after Emma was in the water, we saw fins. We were suddenly surrounded by a school of dolphins jumping and swimming around us. I lost count at 20. They were around us for four or five minutes before swimming off. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have seen on the water. Our guide said that in all his years leading tours, he had never seen that many in one place. I'm convinced that they just wanted to come out and play with Emma and Lillie.

We were so sorry to read about the loss of this beautiful young lady. It is obvious she was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. You can have faith that God has a plan for us to see our loved ones again on a paradise earth. The Bible promises that God “will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Rev. 21:4) May "the God of all comfort" (2 Cor. 1:3) be with you at this time.

Its never easy to say goodbye to someone so young and its never easy to lose a childhood friend and team mate!
The worst part is that the most beautiful soul has been taken so young but theres always a brighter side, you're an angel now!
We use to spend countless hours gossiping, watching all the Final Destination movies, joking around at the swim meets, you whoopin butt at the swim meets and all the fun we had at Six Flags!
We will always remember the great memories we shared with you in the past. You were like another sister who brought so much laugher and light into our family, we were blessed to have known you.
You will be truely missed but never ever forotten
We love you angel,

Dear Clark family - Heartbroken and knowing we are urged forward, I went looking for something more to offer, and found these words. Len, I hope you and your family find peace in this thought, as I did: "Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know that are happy." May God be with you, now and forever. Alex, Catherine and Anna

My darling great niece Emma
Memories of you are so varied but your concern for others would always be in the forefront. I was amazed that even as a four-year-old child how empathetic you were! My mind driftsback to the Christmas season that you were on holiday in Barbados.Great-Grandpa (Lovell) was confined to a wheelchair. Daily you would place your head in his lap; hug him and say "Grandpa, I am so sorrry that you are not well today." He would then pat your head. That connection across the age divide would be indelibly etched in my memory.
On another holiday in Florida (you were probably aound nine years old) Great-Grandmother(Lovell) had inadvertently locked the door leading to the patio. Since she was unable to unlock it it meant that you could not regain entry. She was frantic but you were the fount of calm. "Don't worry, Grandma," you consoled, "somebody would soon be home and all will be well." According to Great-Grandma your sole concerrn was that she would not worry. You even advised her to drink some water and watch television. Ever so often however you checked to ensure that she was alright.
Through the years I have observed that samedevotion extended to other members of the family, young and old old.
A link in the family chain has been broken, a winsome smile frozen in place. Our hearts are heavy but we say "do not mourn because she has gone but thank God that she has blessed our lives!"
Rest in peace, dear great niece, soar with the angels and may perpetual light shine on you!
Love, Aunt Pat.

We are heartbroken over the loss of sweet Emma. Your family has been in our thoughts and prayers these last few days. We have been talking about old times when our guys first met and we were fortunate to make new friends in the basketball bleachers. Ian and Dylan have remained friends and Abby remembers being dragged along to all those "boring" games but playing in the bleachers with Emma. I had forgotten that they had played together but Abby has distinct memories of Emma and as she said, "her BEAUTIFUL smile." I feel lucky to have met your wonderful family and feel blessed to have known Emma. We are here for you for anything you need. Please don't hesitate to ask. We care so much! I remember sitting in those red and blue chairs talking to you about the most simple things and you would make me laugh histerically. You're laugh is one of the best parts about you. I remember sitting in the gym and you sitting by the ball pit and we both were anxious to talk too much because we were afraid we would get in trouble by Becky! My favorite thing to talk to you about was the Herndon - South Lakes football rivalry. We both made bets on who was going to win and who was going to make the first touchdown. And one of my other favorites, when you, Kelly and I all got qdoba and got in trouble for eating it in front of the kids. We were so clueless! You will be dearly missed Emma. I know you're in a better place and watch down over your family and friends. You have a beautiful soul. My heart and prayers go out to you and your wonderful family. We love you Emma.
