Obituary of Kathleen Mary Stevens

Kathleen M. Stevens Of Herndon, VA, formerly of Cliff Haven Estates, Plattsburgh, NY, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Reston Hospital in Reston, Va, surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen suffered from Chronic Mental Health issues and those who knew her saw and felt her pain. Kathleen chose to end her suffering in search of the peace of mind that had always alluded her. Kathleen graduated from Plattsburgh State with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She was formally employed by Clinton County Health Department as a Child Protection Advocate and she also worked with Clinton County's Alcohol Rehabilitation Program. Kathleen was predeceased by her mother Eileen M. Stevens and father Dr. Charles A. Stevens She is survived by her loving sisters Sandra Stevens Schofield of Herndon, Va, and Nancy Stevens Laurie of Charlotte, NC, her brother Charles Stevens of Houston, Texas, as well as her nephew, Robert Schofield IV of Albany, NY, her nieces, Elizabeth Schofield Woodruff, Kristie and Loise Schofield of Herndon, Morgan Laurie Fey and Erin Laurie of Charlotte, her great-nieces and nephew Megan Murphy of Herndon and Zeta and Jackson Schofiled of Albany, Kalli, her beloved labra dor will be well taken care of, as she would have wanted. Kathleen's family requests all who have been tuched by Kathleen's loving spirit speak openly and honestly about struggles associated with mental illness in order to combat the stigma the disease continues to carry. Kathleen's wish was the that those suffering from all types of mental illness be embraced without prejudice or judgement. Kathleen is at peace and will remain in our hearts forever. There will be a memorial this summer to celebrate Kathleen's life, in Plattsburgh, where her remains will be laid to rest. This will be the time for her friends and family to gather.
