It has been a year since my lady was suddenly taken from us. I still miss her terribly, but I am trying to be happy (as I know she would want), be good to the many people who have cared about me, and move on with my life. I have had a good many people who cared about me, and they have been a source of great comfort.
This picture was taken in our living room in Dahlgren. Liz sent it to me while I was in Korea and I carried it with me ever since. She looked so beautiful.
Liz was loving, unselfish, and beautilful. I know that heaven is better off with her there, although I wish she was with us still. I wish I could at least have said good bye.

As Christmas has come and gone, I have missed your yearly Christmas letter. We first met in the laundry room at Hahn, AFB Germany billeting. You invited me and my boys to join you at the playground and the rest is history. We never lost touch even if it was our yearly Christmas letters. I remember we spoke on the phone and talked for over an hour. You told me you never talk that long on the phone to anyone but that our conversation had been so much fun it didn't seem like we had talked that long. I felt really special. I remember how you lit up talking about your grandson and how hard it was to live so far from him. You talked how Cheryl was in a relationship and how great your future son-in-law treated her and her son. You liked him so much and you were so happy for her. You talked about Joey and how he was doing something he absollutely loved. You were an awesome mother and wife and had so much wisdom. I don't think realize how much of that you passed to me or to others whose lives you touched. I admired how you included anyone and everyone regardless of what rank their husbands held because a lot of military wives were not like that.
The funniest thing I remember was when I was 7 months pregnant with my Jordan, you & Mike invited us to go with y'all to the topless beach and my first panicked response was "I don't have a bathing suit" and you said, "You don't need one!" It was true and we all laughed.
From John and I, our most sincere condolences for you Mike, Joe, and Cheryl and your family, Liz was a wonderful, wonderful person, mom, wife, and friend.

Dahlgren va about 1982? The luau on base... mike made me drink far too much despite my pleas to drink no more.... I was having far to much fun for even a sober young man but I was far past sober. I stumbled home from the frstivities... well mike and liz's home actually...and quickly found a nice comfortable brand new recliner to pass out in. Goodnight world. The following morning I arose to a clatter I quickly woke up to see what's the matter....mike was furious that I picked his brand new chair to select as an appropriate receptacle for an equally disturbing amount of alcohol induced vomit. Not just a little. Did I mention ---well that's not important right now.
Anyhow as my big brother mike so eloquently shared his opinion of my drinking skills, liz, in her true fashion of patience, self control, and compassionate understanding, and total lack of sympathy for my severe hangover, simply handed me a cleaning bucket and a rag. Not a word was spoken but her message was loud and clear.
Liz has been my sister in law for 38 wonderful years and if I can emulate just one of her many wonderful qualities I I'm sure she'll smile down on all of us.
Rest in peace Liz. You were a phenomenal person and our world is deeply saddened that you left us so suddenly.

Mike, Joe and Cheryl, We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Our hearts break for all of you as you navigate this difficult time. Liz was a very dear friend. When Liz and mike lived in Akron Ohio mom, dad and myself made a visit. We were enjoying good conversation in thier living room and out of no where our mother made a comment "I can't believe they tore down the fence in a riot just because Donnie Osmond did not show up to perform" Liz and I looked at each other to grasp what she had said and both busted out laughing and Liz telling her while she could barely breath that "it was Ozzie Osbourn not Donnie Osmond" I never heard Liz laugh so hard nor so long as I did that day... My sister was an amazing person with a personality like no other. I hope I can at least be a 1/4 of a person as she was. I have the most amazing sisters any one person could ask for. Liz I love you and miss you terribly.

We are all with you in spirit during this extremely difficult time. Our prayers are with you every single day. I still cannot believe she is gone...such a vibrant person and angel in this world. Liz will truly be missed.
One of my best memories of Liz was her Volkwagon bug! We were just talking about it at the reunion. She drove us to a few times in it (I was maybe 8-9) and I thought she was soooooo COOL for having it! She also put me on her bike when I was really little...we have a pic of that somewhere.

Liz Keeney was an amazing mother, wife, daughter and aunt. Her smile and warm hugs always made you feel comfortable and safe. Words can't even describe how amazing of a person she was.
