Obituary of Thomas Brown Johnston
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas B. Johnston passed away on November 30, 2014 surrounded by the love of his family and friends. A beloved husband and father, master storyteller, rock 'n' roll lover, and accomplished attorney, he was known for his sense of humor and devotion to his family.
Tom was a man of many talents and hobbies: he cultivated a beautiful garden, played with the family's dogs, wrote fiction and poetry, and enjoyed fishing throughout North America. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Valerie; his children, Alicia and Cody; his brothers, Bill and Bruce; his extended family and in-laws; and the many who loved him.
He was a graduate of the College of William and Mary (1976), The Ohio State University (1979), and The George Washington University National Law Center (1986). He was a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the American Bar Association, and he practiced law in D.C. for 27 years.
Tom passed away much too young, after an eighteen month battle with pancreatic cancer. For this reason, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, www.pancan.org.
