Working with Ed was a wonderful experience. Ed was always extremely smart on military topics. I will always remember the Marines went to war in the Bahamas story. Ed was correct. Rest in peace my friend.

As others have already mentioned, I too was fortunate enough to work closely with Ed at DISA. He was a great man both professionally and personally. He will be missed by many. Prayers to Ed's family and friends.

Frequently, when we were testing in the GTAC, we would communicate with dialog lines from movies. Among Ed's favorites was, "Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please."
And the sea will grant each man new hope as sleep brings dreams of home.

My condolences to family and friends. Although there are many people here at DISA that I do not know, his face was a familiar one at work. He usually had a smile in acknowledgement that I existed whenever I came across him in the hallway. I'm sure he has a smile for whoever he meets him in his next passage. May your heartache be brief but your good memories of him be forever.

Mrs Miller, Thank you for sharing Ed with DISA and all of us who were blessed to have met and worked with him for more years than you might have preferred. Had you not, we would all be lesser people today. Ed reminded me that there are fine men who can remain passionate about and dedicated to their work throughout their lives. I knew him only briefly, but I will remember his energy, his commitment to doing the right things, to doing them in the right way and all the while remaining optimistic, cheerful, helpful and kind. May God comfort you and all your family in this time of sorrow. Sincerely, Mike Enright

I was honored to have worked with such a knowledgeable man. We have lost an important, knowledgeable member of the DISA team. But more importantly we have lost an outstanding friend who practiced top-notch work ethics and gave us invaluable lessons in professionalism.

I feel blessed to have known Ed. We worked together over the past 13 years whenever I traveled to DISA. He was truly a professional and friend. We would share our war stories as all vets do and I always left a little wiser because of him. He will be missed.

What is our family going to do without Ed in our lives? Who's going to take and share photos at family events? Who's going to continue researching and documenting the extraordinary Air Force career of our father, Col. Ray Schrecengost? Who will we turn to for that dry and sly sense of humor Ed had? Who will we turn to for help in times of need now that Ed is gone? Who will we chat with in the quiet early morning hours before the day begins? Who's going to lovingly care for and cherish my sister, Cynthia, his children and his grandchildren? Who's going to do all the wonderful and generous things Ed did for family and friends? What ARE we going to do without Ed?

There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief. Ed was so blessed to live his life with so much love from his beautiful wife, Cynthia and her lovely young ladies. He was one of the sweetest men I've ever met. Let the memories live on...

Cindy, Leah, and Michelle, Ed was a very special person, and touch all of our lives. He was a kind, loving and caring person. He was a wonderful husband to you Cindy, and to Leah and Michelle, they could not of had a better stepfather than Ed. My fondest memories of Ed are how he was always ready to snap that picture, to capture a rare, touching, or scenic moment! He was a gentle man with a heart of gold! We will all miss him, and loved him dearly. You all have my love and sympathy.
