Obituary of John Colonel Young

John Colonel Young WILMINGTON, N.C. - John Colonel Young, 89, of Wilmington, N.C. died January 29, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born March 27, 1925 to Freeland Glenn and Ida Blanche Young. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Amelia Ann Young, oldest son John Michael Young; Sisters Mary Francis Lee Mongelli, Viola Ellen Gates, and Virginia Pauline Thornberry. Survivors include his brother Freeland Glenn Young Jr., Richmond, ; Sons David Stephen Young of Wilmington, N.C. and Timothy William Young of Reston; Daughters-in-law Elizabeth and Cheryl Young; Grandchildren David, Jeremy, Jonathan, Jason and Katelan Young; and Great Grandchildren Victoria, Isabel, Adam, Kassidy, Wesley, Chloe, and Dillan Young. Dad was a loving, devoted, husband and father who provided great spiritual and inspirational strength to his family. He held true to his beliefs and imparted his wisdom and good judgment to his children through word and example. He deeply touched many lives with his friendship, humor, and ingenuity, and never surrendered his positive approach to life regardless of circumstance. Our father was greatly loved and his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of his family. He shall truly be missed by all who knew him. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on February 5, 2015, at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St. Herndon VA, 20170. A funeral service will be held the following day at 9 a.m. also at Adams-Green Funeral Home. Interment will be at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon.
