Obituary of Neal Ewen Wayne Campblin

Please share a memory of Neal to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It was a beautiful summer day on the tropical island of Jamaica, on the 21st day of June, 1966 when Kharl and Llewella were blessed with a handsome baby boy whom they named Neal Ewen Wayne. Over his early years growing up in Jamaica, Neal grew into a loving, caring and engaging youth and was a great joy to his parents, siblings, extended family and friends. Neal loved being in the outdoors, he loved to roam around in the woods and garden, and showed a great interest in the flowers and plants. He particularly enjoyed the frequent family visits to the ocean where he loved to collect shells and special stones at the waters' edge. Neal was an amazing brother. A tease at times, prankster some of the times, and a strong supporter at all times. He and his siblings shared many great moments hiking throughout the region, taking photographs of the local landscape or catching the latest foreign picture at the local cinema. He loved to learn new things, and was great at everything he put his mind to. Neal had an incredible memory and he served as the family historian. Constantly reminding us of what we did, didn't do or could have done. His service to the family didn't end there but extended to part counselor as he often imparted straight forward advice and approaches to resolve issues, conflicts and challenges. Neal loved to travel and his adventures to the great cultural capitals of Europe fueled an interest in and a passion for art. He became an avid collector, and created a warm, welcoming environment for all guests to his home. Neal had a very strong inner spirituality, a personal love of God. He pursued a quiet search for truth and wisdom. He rejected destructive criticism and judgment of others. The family emigrated to the United States during the island's period of political unrest in the late 70s, arriving at New York's Kennedy airport near midnight on New Year's Eve 1978. Neal easily adjusted to his new home and his first experience of extreme cold and snowy weather. The family settled in the NYC suburb of Mount Vernon where Neal continued to excel in his formal education. He finished Middle School at A.B Davis Middle School and then attended Mount Vernon High School where he demonstrated an outstanding aptitude for and love of mathematics and the sciences. A parent's job transfer saw the family relocate to Orlando. There, Neal completed his final year of high school at Lake Brantley High School. He then went on to pursue his B. Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Central Florida. Relocating to the Washington D. C. area in late 1990, Neal's first career job was with Lucent Technologies, as a Systems Management and Translations Engineer. His next career move was in 1998 to Winstar Communications in Herndon where he performed in the capacity of Senior Manager/Engineer. Eight years later, Neal moved to Time Warner Corporation in Herndon, beginning his career there in a contracting position supporting the newly launched Digital Phone product. Neal later accepted a full-time position and earned a position of Sr. Engineer. In this capacity, Neal was a critical member of the Go It Alone Planning team, exhibiting exemplary teamwork and dedication to an important company goal. It is noteworthy that his associate expressed pleasure at his joining the latest team with which he worked as Sr. Capacity and Network Planner. The testaments of Neal's friends, team-mates and associates speak volumes on how much he was loved, and how highly he was regarded by them all. Following are some of the verbatim comments from those who knew him well: • He was a great friend, and will live in our hearts forever. • Neal will be missed by anyone who has ever known him. He was one of a kind! • Neal was such an inspiration! Never complaining - always had a big smile. He will truly be missed! He is an angel in Heaven now. • Neal was such a gentle soul, always a kind word and a smile. He truly made the world a better place, especially our little Time Warner Cable world, and will be so missed. • We will miss his warm smile and good heart. • Neal viewed himself as quite the fashion expert and was forever giving us unsolicited advice on "what not to wear". • Neal was an instant friend to anyone he'd meet. He was a great guy and will be sorely missed. • He was a good listener and gave great advice. A giver, very warm and heartfelt. Dedicated and determined … Can we remember all the good he has done? There isn't enough space or time available to record all the good he did, the love he shared, the joy he brought, the lessons he taught, and the immeasurable help he gave. Neal was a special gift from God. He strove to influence and teach, in his humble way, by example. Neal expressed such kindness, such genuine love and compassion to his family, friends and others along the way. His charitable nature demonstrated, in his humble unassuming way, aspects of what it means to love thy neighbor as thyself. LET US REJOICE FOR NEAL THE STRIFE IS O'ER, THE BATTLE DONE.
