Obituary of Col. Merritt Booth USAR

COL Merritt B. Booth Jr, US Army Ret. (Bud) Merritt B. Booth Jr. of Great Falls, VA passed away at home on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He is survived by his sister, Priscilla Duff, brother, William (Gail) Booth and children, Phyllis (Stuart) Dom and Merritt B. (Julie) Booth, III, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Booth, daughter, Joyce Dawson and infant son, Gordon Booth. COL Booth served in combat in Europe during World War II with the 52nd Armored Infantry Battalion of the Ninth Armored Division. He remained in the Army for thirty years and saw service during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He retired at the Headquarters Army Security Agency, Arlington, VA. His many military decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was an avid amateur Astronomer, radio controlled Sailplane flyer and computer flight enthusiast (Simmer). The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30pm at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA 20170. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date to be determined.
