Team-teaching with Kitty at Lanier Intermediate School many years ago proved to be a life-altering experience. The lessons she taught the students (and me!) about history, art and culture have influenced my perspectives about the world. I recall so many of her insights about what it means to be human. She left a major impact on the lives she touched. What a magnificent and accomplished woman. I will miss her as a mentor and a friend.

Dear Carl and Family, It was my honor to know Kitty and enjoy her scholarship and tennis skills since the 1980's. I miss her "alley shot." It was that good! Our lunches after tennis often featured discussions about the myths and social structures of the San people and others she had met and studied. Kitty was compassionate and generous. I remember hearing how Kitty was called "Mother" by a tribe of people in the Trobriand Islands. I remember how proud Kitty was of being a pilot. I'm glad that her Congressional Gold Medal came just in time. I was privileged to hear several of Kitty's lectures on Egypt and Early Man. Her writings and years of teaching will continue to inspire generations of students, me among them. With sympathy, Rhonda Kurtis and Family
