Obituary of Arthur Smith

Arthur Smith, 88, of Sterling, VA, passed away on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21, 2015 at his home. Born on November 23, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York he was the son of the late Edward Lorenzo Smith and the late Blanche Gross Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Lee Smith and his brother, Edward Harry Smith. Arthur retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973 after 28 years of service. Arthur led a faithful family and professional life and was a blessing to all he met. The family is thankful Arthur is resting in the loving arms of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Florence Georgia Smith; children, Thomas Arthur Smith and his wife, Tammy of Bluemont, VA, James Edward Smith and his wife, Deborah of Sterling, VA and Stephen Craig Smith and his wife, Stacy of Leesburg, VA; grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Matthew Thompson, Kaitlyn Smith, Nicholas Smith, Jacob Smith, Joshua Blumberg, Jared Blumberg and Samuel Blumberg; great-grandchildren, Makayla Hamlin, Madison Hamlin and Mazie Lowe; and his sister, Janice Scales of Kissimmee, FL. Anyone who would like to celebrate Arthur's life with the family, they will be receiving friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Adams Green Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Sterling United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Duncan officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Arthur Smith to the Sterling United Methodist Church-Building Fund, 304 E Church Road Sterling, VA 20164. See you soon, Dad!
