Today is August 7, 2018 and I have just learned that Bruce has joined Bette with Jesus. I knew Bette and agree with all that was said of her. I also was acquainted with Bruce and knew him to be a man who had a passion for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was bold in sharing his faith, and also bold in his friendships to encourage walking the walk and not just talking the talk. This is earth's loss, but heaven's gain.

Betty, I am so blessed to have known you. I fondly remember those early RBC days when you and I were prayer partners and attended bible study togeher. We sat together in church on Sunday mornings many times as we were single mothers. You were always so kind and sweet and love our Lord so much. I'm sure that never changed over the years. After we married, you Bruce and me Bill, we lost track as our lives became fuller and we went in different directions, however, we never forgot each other. I remember the day you found me on facebook. I was so happy that we reconnected and got to catch up a little. I am so sorry I didn't know you were ill or had been ill; I know you were putting on a brave face and trusting our God. There is so much I would have said to you telling you how much you have meant to me as I am sure others are feeling the same way. But knowing you, you probably already know how people felt. You were such a blessing to everyone you were around. I haven't met all your girls or grandchildren but I'm sure they reflect your sweet demeanor. I am sure you were the perfect role model for them. I know your family will miss you greatly. I had hoped to see you again one day when I visited Northern Virginia. I am very sad that I will not get to do that. But we will meet in heaven. She was one of the most beautiful women I have ever known both inside and out. Our hearts hurt for yours in your loss of her. Where she is there is no more pain or suffering. But there's a big hole here. Praying for comfort and strength. I will always remember her as one of the sweetest most patient people I have ever had the privilege of knowing.

It has been wonderful to share a birthday with Bette and a prayer warrior friend in Jeannie. Every time I saw Bette she had a smile on her face - no matter what was going on. We rejoiced at Women of Faith, laughed and sang with Billy Graham's group at his last crusade in Baltimore ... and prayed together. Praying for grace and peace as you remember her great love of our Lord ... and her love of her family ... She is most certainly singing in Glory.
