Obituary of Jason Ryan Parkos

Please share a memory of Jason to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jason Ryan Parkos, 39, was called to his heavenly home on August 7, 2015, after a valiant three year battle with cancer. His devotion to his wife and their firm belief in God supported them throughout his illness and ultimately gave them peace. Jason is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate that he is in Heaven. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Jason was born to the late Donald Parkos, Jr and Sharon Andrew in Hennepin, Minnesota on June 7, 1976. Jason was blessed with a loving family. He married his Schweetie, Krista Lea Krueger, on December 9, 2006 in Greensboro, NC. Jason proposed to Krista while hiking in Dolly Sods Wilderness in WV and their honeymoon was enjoyed in Canaan Valley, WV. They loved spending time together hiking, fishing, and camping; enjoying the natural beauty of West Virginia's wilderness. Jason was an avid weatherman (and more accurate than the Weather Channel meteorologists), proud owner of his silver Toyota Tacoma 4x4 truck, and expert BBQ chef with his Weber grill. He enjoyed taking family to "His Lands" - Dolly Sods Wilderness, Canaan Valley area, and Seneca Creek Backcountry. He loved everything about winter and enjoyed snowboarding at Timberline Resort. He held the all-time high score in playing Peggle online with his in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Jason was a long time Redskins fan and enjoyed watching football while eating wings. Jason is lovingly remembered by his wife, Krista; his parents, John and Sharon Andrew; his siblings, Jeff Parkos, Kristin Parkos, Brandon Andrew, and Katie Garcia; his grandmothers, Cecilia Parkos and Louise Abbott; his in-laws, Robert and Nancy Krueger; and his numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Parkos Jr; and his grandfathers, Donald Parkos and Raymond Abbott. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, from 6-8 pm in the Main Worship Center at Christian Fellowship Church (Ashburn, VA). Jason will be honored at a memorial service on Thursday, August 13, at 11 am, with a reception to follow in the Chapel at Christian Fellowship Church (Ashburn, VA). Pastor Brian Bales will officiate the service. A graveside service will be held in Kiron, IA. Memorial gifts can be directed to support the lung cancer research of Dr. Julie Brahmer at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. Gifts can be made online at www.hopkinskimmelcancercenter.org and go to "Make a Gift."
