Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Raymond Puchrik passed away on March 26, 2015 after suffering a stroke on March 17, 2015. She was 91. Mrs. Puchrik was born December 30, 1923. She was married to Colonel Augustine S. Puchrik, who died in 2010. Mrs. Puchrik was the daughter of Colonel Julian Erskine Raymond, a career U.S. Army officer, and Mildred Clark Raymond. She began her lifelong travels in the Panama Canal Zone, where she was born. Her travels took her to China, the Philippines, Germany and Russia, among other destinations. She met her husband, Augustine, in Oberammergau, Germany while he served at the U.S. Army Intelligence School as an instructor, and where her father was the school's commander. They married there in 1948. Mrs. Puchrik graduated from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia in 1945. She enjoyed the fine arts, and her many talents included painting, gardening, knitting and needlework. She loved to play bridge and enjoyed square dancing with her husband. Mrs. Puchrik's husband's military career enabled her to thrive in her role as the consummate hostess. She excelled at staging complex social gatherings with equal parts military precision and an impresario's flair. Upon COL Puchrik's retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1974, they made their home in Northern Virginia where they resided until their deaths. Mrs. Puchrik will be greatly missed by her children: Andrew Stephen (Deborah), David Vincent (Constance), Joanne (Don) and Kathleen Monica (J). Her daughter-in-law, Deborah, and son-in-law, Don, preceded her in death. She leaves five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Puchrik was laid to rest at Woodside Cemetery, a private Quaker cemetery, in Ashton, Maryland, next to her mother.
