Obituary of Julie Kathleen Campbell
Please share a memory of Julie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Sunday, October 4, 2015 our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, Julie passed away surrounded by her family and friends. Julie succumbed to a three-year battle with cancer, a disease she fought with Godly faith, determination, style, grace, and even good humor. In private and in public Julie brought a presence of joy and peace to all she knew.
Born the middle sister of an Air Force/IBM family, Julie was born in 1957 at Travis AFB, CA and grew up in various locations including Albuquerque, NM, Chelmsford, MA, Simsbury, CT, and Endicott, NY. Her family finally settled in Oakton, VA where Julie graduated from Herndon HS in 1975. Julie graduated from the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business in May 1979.
On the 26th of that same month Julie married Lt Chris Campbell. She spent the next 20 years living an "Air Force life" in various assignments in Florida, Spain, Alabama, Italy, and finally back to Northern Virginia. During that time she gave birth to two wonderful sons, David and Kevin. She also found time to be accredited as a CPA in 1987.
The family settled in Burke, VA in 1994 to the present day. Julie continued to raise her two wonderful boys and turned them into men. David graduated from Robinson HS, Clemson University (2007), and became a USMC AV/8 Harrier pilot. Kevin graduated from Robinson HS, the US Naval Academy (2010), and Advanced Nuclear Power Training. During this time she worked as a CPA for David N. Hainsworth, CPA P C in Fairfax, VA. Her sons married wonderful women and Julie became a grandmother to Kevin and Kelly's child, Wyatt Edward and David and Deanne's RoseMary Kathleen. Through all these days Julie blessed everyone she touched with her faith, character, and good cheer.
Mrs. Julie Kathleen Campbell (nee Fanslow) was born to Air Force Captain James Warren Fanslow and Barbara Kathleen Fanslow (nee Moll). She is the granddaughter of now deceased (paternal) Mrs. Marie Edith Fanslow Shively and Mr. James Shively, of Lake City, Minnesota, and (maternal) Mr. Eugene and Sadi Moll, of Spokane Washington. Her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Marie Edith Fanslow Shively was a Daughter of the American Revolution.
