Obituary of Gracia Charlotte Harper

Gracia "Grace" Charlotte Harper, 81, of Leesburg, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at her residence. Grace married her husband, Bill, on June 20, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She worked for the Department of Interior before retiring from Herndon Police Department in 2006. She enjoyed playing bingo, knitting, and was a devoted supporter of animal rescue. Grace was a devoted Navy wife and had a great love for traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Leah-ann Harper of Sterling, Virginia; son, Gene Michael Harper of California; grandchildren, Jennifer Bustos, Kristine Harper, James Harper and William D'arcangelo; great-grandsons Garrett and Alex; brother Ronald Parrott and his wife, Connie. Grace was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, CDR William L. Harper, USN (Ret) and her son, William Joseph D'arcangelo, USN (Ret). A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at St. David's Episcopal Church with Rev. Mary Kay Brown officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
