Lawrence (Larry) P. Troxell Jr., 68, of Herndon, VA, passed away on Tuesday January 19, 2016 at 5 am.
Born on July 11, 1947 in Alexandria, VA. He was the son of the late Ruth Holsinger and the late Larry P. Troxell Sr. He is survived by his wife, Christine Troxell, two sons, Lawrence Troxell (Jen), Andrew Troxell (Lynn), and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Troxell, two nieces and two great nephews and one great niece, as well as several aunts and cousins.
Larry was a graduate of George Washington High School in Alexandria, VA and the American Institute for computer processing in Washington, DC. He worked in the computer industry for the Library of Congress and Amtrack. Later he worked for JH Montague and Associates. At the time of his death he was employed by Wegmans.
Larry was a native of Alexandria, VA. He moved to Herndon, VA in 1975 with his wife and two young sons. He called Herndon his home and lived there until his death. He was an active member of the Greater Herndon Jaycees and chaired many projects, his favorites were fireworks and Christmas tree sales.
Larry loved camping. His favorite times were with his sons and their friends. Later he was able to enjoy camping with his grandkids including a huge camping reunion with his sons, their friends and all their children. He loved fishing with his Jaycee buddies, traveling to B & B's with his wife and friends, as well as watching the great #3 in NASCAR. He enjoyed going to the beach with the gang and loved going to a special French restaurant with neighbors. Larry loved a good Manhattan!
Football was one of Larry's favorite sports, especially when watching his sons play high school football. He never missed a game! In recent years he loved going to see his grandkids play football and soccer nearly every weekend. He was once even voted by his oldest grandson's football team their greatest fan.
Christmas was Larry's favorite holiday and he spread that love to his family. He loved shopping for Christmas decorations and shared this activity with his equally enthusiastic buddy. His favorite times were spent with his seven wonderful grandchildren and surprising them with that one last gift after we thought all the presents had been opened.
Larry thoroughly loved spending time with family - his sons, loving daughter-in-laws, grandkids, brother, nieces and their children. He enjoyed being with his relatives, including his in-laws and folks in Alexandria and Rockbridge County, VA. Larry always brought humor and fun to all their adventures. He will forever be known for his infections laugh, which we can all still hear in our hearts.
