ANTHONY J. KUSINSKI
Anthony Joseph Kusinski, 94 of Herndon, Virginia passed away on January 28, 2016 in Reston Hospital Center. Tony was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Genevieve Mead Kusinski, his parents, Joseph and Antoinette Kusinski, two brothers Benjamin and Felix and two sisters Josephine and Caroline. Tony is survived by his daughter Patricia Kusinski Spodnick and son-in-law John Spodnick of Centreville, Virginia, a granddaughter Amanda Spodnick and her husband Thomas Reed of Boulder, Colorado, nieces and nephews, and friends.
Born 1921 in New Britain, Connecticut Tony was a graduate of Bullard Havens High School. While in school, Tony held part-time jobs such as pin boy at a local bowling alley and paper routes to help support the family during the Great Depression. During World War II, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Leon. After the war, Tony worked at several of the area's largest factories until starting work with the City of Bridgeport. He worked his way up to his final position as Superintendent of the City's 36-hole golf course, Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course. Growing up, Tony "Lefty" played softball and baseball for recreational leagues. Tony was an avid fan of the New England Patriots football team and of the UCONN Lady Huskies basketball team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of Herndon with burial at Columbia Gardens in Arlington.
