I grew up with Billy Finkel, elementary school, Wagner Jr. High and Central High School. Something told me to input his name in the internet and his obituary popped up. I loved Billy, he was a good buddy. I lived 2 minutes away on 16th Street, Billy lived on 65th Avenue. I never knew him in adult life, but I miss him. Life is precious. Rest in Peace- Billy. Deepest condolences and prayers are lifted up for your family! I'm praying that GOD gives you peace. Bill was a colleague at DLA and a good friend. Even after retirement, he never hesitated to stop by for a visit and opportunity to chat and catch up. I'm honored that I had the chance to become friends with him.

Bill was one of the most intelligent men I have ever known. Although I could never fill his shoes, I became a better person and employee from knowing him. Bill was my mentor, my boss, but most important he was a close friend. I will miss his humorous wit and friendship. Rest in Peace, Bill.

We will remember Bill as both a colleague and a friend with respect and warm thoughts. His skills, abilities, and leadership guided so many others in their professional careers; as all meritorious service narratives read, ". . . he is a credit to himself, his organization, and the Department of Defense." Pages could be written about Bill's contributions to the DoD.
Bill's ornery smile and laugh will never be forgotten. And let us never forget his love of Bang Bang Shrimp and chocolate chip cookies. We will always cherish the good times with Bill and Karen.

I had the pleasure of working with Bill a number of times over our careers. Bill always brought the highest level of technical competence and a great sense of humor to the most challenging problems. The warfighters and the taxpayers were well-served when an issue landed on Bill Finkel's desk. As a fellow native of Philadelphia and fellow Drexel alumni I might be a little prejudiced ...but Bill truly was a DLA legend.
