Just as the beautiful picture that has been kindly provided for my (Is it "second cousin" or "first cousin once removed"?) Cousin Jimmy, I see a wonderfully charming picture of Jimmy's eternally smiling face beaming at us.
On the occasions that I visited with "Jimmy", I always remember him as being happy, congenial, upbeat, and fun to be around.
I originally being from the east coast, during the summer of 1980, I being of college age, my parents, siblings, and I paid Jimmy a short visit while we were traveling through the Virginia area. I remember sitting down at a piano within his home. In order to tickle the ivory, I began playing, what I believed to be a beautiful, but I guess to be honest, somewhat melancholy song, "Stairway to Heaven" (originally performed by legendary rock stars, Led Zeppelin). Jimmy, with his sense of humor, then came over to say to me, as I continued playing what I thought to be beautiful music, "Who died?" :-)
I remember Jimmy within that same visit, telling me many times that I could come and visit him anytime and that I could feel free to also bring along a girl with me, "I won't tell anyone. :-)", and that we could both then stay at his place together. A very kind man, I remember that at the time as being a "cool statement" coming from an adult.
My condolences to us all for our loss.
"Those who pass on are never gone. They belong to those who remember them."
Rest in peace beloved Cousin Jimmy.
