Obituary of Marin I. Sabic

Marin I. Sabic, 82, of Sterling, VA, passed away on Thursday, March 10th, 2016 at 2:15 p.m. Born on September 12, 1933 in Makar, Croatia, he was the son of the late Ivan Sabic and the late Jele Mendes Sabic. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Krsto Sabic, sister Nede Bodulovic and sister Marija Jungic. Marin retired in 2011 after working almost 50 years as an architect, the last 15 years as the owner of his own company, MIS. Architecture was one of his two big loves, the other, his wife Marija. Marin was a diligent worker, and independent thinker, a visionary, a humanist, a lover and savorer of life, and a wise soul. He was an avid world traveler, hunter and photographer and loved reading political biographies. He is survived by his wife Maria Sabic, daughter Ilonka Sabic-Lukic, son-in-law Milovan Lukic, grand-daughter Elena Lukic, grand-son Marko Lukic, and brothers Josip, Vilim and Ivo Sabic with their families. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Adams Green Funeral Home. At 3:00 p.m. on the same day a commemoration will be held in the Adams Green Funeral Home Chapel. After the services, family and friends are invited to join Marija and her family at Marija's home for a gathering of sharing memories and celebrating Marin's life. Cremation will follow in the following days and his ashes will be rested in Makar, Croatia at a later date.
