Obituary of Roseann S. Vecchio

Please share a memory of Roseann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roseann Sandra Vecchio was given back to God peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 18th; she was 90 years young. Roseann was born in Brooklyn, New York to Leonardo and Anna Maria D'Aquino on October 26, 1925. Roseann relocated with her husband Tom from New York City to Loudoun County, Virginia in 1988 and, together, they participated in the conception, design, and construction of the Senior Center at Cascades. Roseann dedicated countless hours volunteering at the Senior Center at Cascades and was formally recognized by Loudoun County as the volunteer with the highest number of hours in the county for 18 years volunteering over 19,000 hours. She also held office as the President of the Countryside Women's Club and she and Tom were supporters of the Sterling Playmakers. Roseann had a full and unconventional life. Following graduation from high school, she attended business college and used her expertise to work in accounting at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Bank and Gertz Department Store. Roseann was very involved with every community in which she lived including the local Democratic Club in New York, serving as president.  She worked for most of her adult life when many women of her generation did not make that choice. She was a medical assistant, taking care of patients with much care and concern. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, A.Thomas Vecchio, her two daughters Diane Drews and Carol Vecchio, two sons-in-law Michael Drews and Dennis Williams, three grandchildren Michael Drews, Matthew Drews, and Jennifer Miller (husband Vincent), two step-grandchildren Aimie Jo Lockwood (husband Frank) and Gabriel Williams (wife Wendi Wise), two great grandchildren Ryan Drews and Brandon Drews, and five great step-grandchildren Malachi Lockwood, Kandera Lockwood, Bella Williams, Adrienne Williams and Dashiell Williams. Roseann was preceded in death by her older brother, Donald, and is survived by two younger brothers, Peter and Leonard D'Aquino. She was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church. At St. Gerard Majella Church (Hollis, New York) Roseann was a lector and assisted with the Drum Corps. At Christ the Redeemer Church (Sterling, Virginia) she was a lector and Eucharistic minister. Roseann was a true delight to be around, loved spending time with her family, and was happiest around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her laughter was contagious and anyone in her presence couldn't help but feel the joy she released into the world. Roseann had a fun sense of humor which she used to lighten the mood, end the silence, or just cause laughter at any moment even in her late stages of dementia. Roseann was the true definition of beauty, both inside and out. She was a woman who always looked younger than her years; no one who met her could ever guess her true age. She will be tremendously missed and will remain forever in the hearts of those she touched so deeply.
