Obituary of John Bobby

John Bobby, 100, of Sterling, VA, formerly of Herndon, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Brookdale of Sterling, Virginia. He was born on December 7, 1915, to the late John and Annie Bobby. John grew up in Emeigh, Pennsylvania, the oldest of eight children. At age 17 John worked in the coal mines of the town to help support his family. While living in PA he met his late wife Nancy Bobby, they were married 76 years. Together they owned several businesses throughout the years including several grocery stores, an ocean side motel and Oak Hill Farms, Inc., a home building/land development company based in Herndon, VA. John developed and built several subdivisions in the Northern Virginia area including many homes in Herndon and Vienna. John loved to play golf and many times when he was in his 80's, he shot under his age. John was a board member of Christ Church of Washington for over 20 years. John always shared his testimony with others and that "There is a God". He is survived by his son John E Bobby, his wife, Letty Bobby: his daughter Gaila O'Neil, her husband Michael O'Neil; two granddaughters, Christine Bobby and Ashley Leathwood; one brother Steve Bobby; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the thoughtful staff of Brookdale of Sterling for all of their care and support. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am Saturday, March 26th at Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon, Virginia.. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm Thursday, March 24th at Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon, Virginia.
