Joan McGlynn, Age 97 On April 3, 2016, Joan McGlynn passed away at the age of 97. She was born on July 22, 1918, in New Haven, Connecticut, the thirteenth child of William and Mary Lamb. On September 1, 1945, she married Henry J. McGlynn who predeceased her in 1987. Joan is survived by her sister, Norma Thompson, her two children, Henry J. McGlynn, Jr. and Kathleen M. Rutkowski, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Joan had an incredible memory and was the family storyteller. She and her younger sister were professional dancers known as The Lamb Sisters. For many years, Joan worked in the offices of the New Haven Railroad, where she acquired a lifelong interest in using new computing technologies, even in her 90s she was an avid emailer and web surfer. Family was Joan's first priority, however, she loved people was a friend to many and to all who knew her a joy and an inspiration. Special thanks from Joan and her family to the wonderful Capital Caring Hospice workers and to the wonderful staff at Potomac Falls Health and Rehabilitation. ABOUT FUTURE SERVICES A private ceremony celebrating Joan's life will take place in June or July (specific date and time to be announced later) in her beloved Connecticut where she will be buried beside her husband.
