Obituary of Gary Robert Fugger

On Monday April 18, 2016 Gary R. Fugger of Herndon, Virginia passed away peacefully. He was born on Saturday November 29, 1952 in Englewood, New Jersey to Conrad and Irene Fugger. He spent his childhood in Oradell, New Jersey and many summers at the beach on the Jersey Shore. He was a 1974 graduate of Villanova University who enjoyed following his alma mater chase another national championship in basketball. After graduating from college he worked for the World Bank before joining the ranks of federal employees. He had a 30 year career that spanned several agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Justice, General Services Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and the Department of Interior. He retired as a senior criminal investigator in December 2004. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, especially while canoeing on the Shenandoah River. He also enjoyed photography and was an avid Civil War buff, visiting the many historic sites in the DC region. He loved watching and supporting his children in their various school and athletic activities. He is survived by his two children, Lauren Fugger of Herndon, Virginia and Kaitlin Chubeck of Margate, Florida; his former spouse and devoted friend, Kathleen Fugger of Herndon, Virginia; his mother, J. Irene Fugger of Oradell, New Jersey; his sister, Jamie Greydanus of Maywood, New Jersey; his nephews and niece, Johnathan Fugger, Jordan and Jacqueline Greydanus. He was predeceased by his father, Conrad R. Fugger, and his first wife Margaret Anne Snyder Fugger. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
