Obituary of John Harold Selander

John H. Selander (Harry) , age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 4th. John is survived by his wife Patricia of 42 years, daughters Elaine, Debbie (her husband Frank), Linda (her husband Schuyler) and his son Robert (his wife Patty). Harry was preceded by his parents, Selma and Anton and Brother Leonard and his wife Fran. Harry was a loving and devoted grandfather of his seven grandchildren, Courtney Costello and Eric Selander, Caitlin and Gregory Bean, Kelly Souza (her husband Mike), Max and Emma Propst. Harry is a proud graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He worked as an electrical engineer at Sylvania. Harry moved to Virginia in 1970 and worked for the MITRE Corporation for 26 years as a radar engineer. Harry enjoyed playing golf and was passionate about boating on the Chesapeake Bay. The family will receive friends at ADAMS-GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA Friday, May 6, 2016 from 10 -11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 750 Peachtree St., Herndon, VA at 11:30 AM. Interment Chestnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Harry's name to Food for the Poor or Northeastern University
