Obituary of Ruth M. Atwell

Ruth Atwell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away the morning of May 8, 2016. She was born February 22, 1923. Ruth grew up in Philadelphia and met Allen Atwell, the man she would marry and spend her life with, through her older brother, Albert Newcomb. Ruth poured her life's work into raising her two daughters, Jeanne and Linda, as an Air Force wife. Ruth and her daughters relocated as her husband's job dictated, both throughout the continental US, as well as two tours in Germany. Ruth made many dear friends along the way whom she kept in touch with throughout her lifetime. After Allen's retirement from the Air Force, she and Allen enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She was adored by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Allen. She is survived by daughters Jeanne Birdwell and Linda Haynes, grandchildren, Kimberly, Amy, Kelly, Chrysse and Andrew, and seven great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Visitation May 21 at 10 am, Memorial Service May 21 at 12 pm. Ruth will be buried beside the love of her life, Allen Atwell, in Arlington National Cemetery.
