Obituary of Nancy Helen Pletzke

NANCY HELEN PLETZKE (nee Schneider) (Age 68) Passed away peacefully on June 16, 2016, after suffering with dementia for over six years. Nancy was born in Marquette, MI in 1948, the daughter of late Carl Adam Schneider and Ada Louise (nee Siewert). She graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1966 and attended Northern Michigan University. Nancy enjoyed gardening and decorating for Halloween and Christmas. She also enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. She retired from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 2010 with 25 years of service supporting the Directorate of Operations. Nancy is survived by her brother Karl Michael Schneider (Vilai) and her sister Ann Beaudry both of Marquette, MI; ex-husband Carl Pletzke of Herndon, VA; her daughter Rachel Johnson (Jeff) of Santa Maria, CA, and; her son Gregory Pletzke of Centreville, VA; and three granddaughters (Abigail, Joslyn and Sara). A service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at the ADAMS-GREEN FUNERAL HOME (721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA) on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. She will be buried in the Park Cemetery (301 N. 7th Street, Marquette, MI) on Tuesday, 2 August, 2016 with a graveside service at 1 p.m. The family thanks all of their friends and neighbors for the great support and love they’ve provided during this difficult time. A special thanks to the staff of Woodbine Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center who lovingly watched over Nancy the past two years.
