Obituary of Marvin Haden Crosby

Please share a memory of Marvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MARVIN HADEN CROSBY, age 73 of Sterling, VA passed away at his home on Monday, March 21, 2011 from a bout with cancer. He was born on May 1, 1937 in a small Texas town by the name of Sudan, to the late, James & Vivian "Bib" Crosby. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was married to the late Jean Crosby and is survived by his son, Marvin H. Crosby, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Front Royal, VA; daughter Sue A. Runion Crosby of Sterling, VA; proud grandfather of Jeff, Ben, Matt, Danielle, Krystal (husband Chris), Sami (husband Chad); great grandfather to Nikolaos. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Louise Crosby and brothers, Howard Lee Crosby and Nelson "Dale" Crosby. Marvin served in the U.S. Army for 3 years and then spent his remaining career service (1957-1988) working for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). His most sentimental memories were those he shared with his wife of 47 years, his loving family, and the many wonderful friends he met along the way. He enjoyed many things in life, traveling, swimming, square-dancing, coffee with the boys, playing cards, walking at the botanical gardens, and dining at multiple locations where he became family. We'll fondly remember him for his mischievous sense of humor (dry most times) and generosity. Call the dog cat and keep the laughter coming! Life is too short to miss the smiles. We love you Dad/Umpa our beloved friend! The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 2, 2001. The viewing will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with a brief prayer service at 3:00 p.m., at Adams Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA 20170. Graveside services at Arlington National Cemetery will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 1:00 PM. Those attending must meet at the Administration Building at 12:30 PM. Those who wish may make Memorial Contributions in his name to the American Cancer Society, 124 Park Street SE, Vienna, VA 22180.
