Harriet M. Mogge, 88, of Reston, VA passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Sunrise at Reston Town Center. Born on January 2, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Russell Van Dyke Morgan and the late Grace Adeline Wells. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her former husband, Reverend Robert A. Mogge. Mrs. Mogge received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and did postgraduate work in special education at Illinois State University, Normal. She taught music in both the Evanston and Watseka, Illinois school systems. In 1964, Mrs. Mogge joined the Summy-Birchard Company where she served as educational director until leaving to join the Music Educators National Conference of Reston, Virginia where she served as Director of Meetings and Conventions until her retirement in 1993. Mrs. Mogge served as the founding executive secretary of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, receiving their Distinguished Service Award in 1996. She was also a member of the music fraternity, Mu Phi Epsilon, a national officer of the Kappa Delta Sorority where she held various national offices from 1960 to 1984 and the National Association of Exposition Managers where she served as national president in 1990. A long standing antique automobile enthusiast, Harriet Mogge was a life member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and a founding member of the Model T Ford Club International where she served as a member of the board of directors for 15 years, treasurer, advertising manager for the club's magazine Model T Times and the club's first woman president in 1981. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Mogge Hartman of North Woodstock, NH, her cousin John Dever of Arizona, grandsons Andrew and Kenneth Peterson, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Mogge will be interred next to her parents at Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to the Suzuki Association of the Americas in Boulder, Colorado or the MD Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, Texas.
