Obituary of Jeanne Mershon Condie

Jeanne Mershon Condie, 90, of Ashburn, VA passed away peacefully on July 24, 2016. Jeanne was born and raised in Stamford, CN, the daughter of John and Lydia Mershon. She graduated from Connecticut College and received a M.S. degree in Biology from Brown University. She held various academic research positions at Yale University School of Medicine, Cornell University Medical School, Department of Biology and Brown University and was an Associate Pharmacologist at Schering-Plough Corportation until her marriage to Albert Condie in 1961. Albert and Jeanne lived in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey for over 40 years until his passing in 2002. Throughout her life, Jeanne was passionate about people and learning. She was an active community volunteer with AAUW, PTA, Garden Club, Governor Livingston Band Parents, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. As a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, she was a Sunday school teacher, Deacon and member of the choir. In 1979, she returned to work at Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals in Summit, NJ, where she was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Quality Assurance Unit’s inspection and auditing procedures. After 15 years, she retired before moving to Potomac Falls, VA and subsequently Ashburn, VA. She was an active member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Herndon, VA and in her last years, enjoyed her book, knitting, and bridge groups. Jeanne is survived by her loving family: a son Robert Condie and his wife Kari Hebble of Camus, WA, a daughter Dana Ainge and her husband Dennis of Reston, VA, granddaughters Cara & Jenna, a brother William Randall Mershon of Portsmith, RI, and a sister Lydia Marion Johnson of South Lancaster, Ontario, Canada. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 651 Dranesville Road, Herndon VA 20170 on Saturday, July 30 at 11am with Reverend Stephen Smith-Cobbs officiating. Private interment at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church of Herndon, VA or Capital Caring, Resource Development Department, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042
