Dear John,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear mother, Marge. Mittee Cassamento called me to tell me about it. I'm sorry I couldn't attend the funeral. I was out of town.
I remember when I first met you and your parents. You were a toddler. It was fun watching you grow up. Your parents were the best neighbors one could ask for.. We were there for each other, when needed.
We sold our home in 1997 and moved to Lake Anna. I did see your Mom two years ago, two times. We met for lunch when Billie Kay was in town. My Great Falls friends were the best. Never to be forgotten!!
Your Mom took good care of your Dad in his last years. That's what we do when we have a good marriage. I lost my husband five years ago and would have given my life for him, but it wasn't meant to be.
My deepest sympathy to you. We know she's in a good place now, reunited with your Dad.
Sincere Sympathy, Carol Loxtercamp

Thank you to everyone who attended my mother's funeral. For those who could not, I wanted to post my eulogy for her on here. I think it is important to let everyone know some of the things she did in her life..
First, let me say thank you to everyone who came to attend my mother’s service I know she would be overwhelmed with knowing so many people cared and took time out of their busy schedules to be part of this goodbye.
My mom..wow, how do you summarize a person’s life in a few minutes, their experiences, their influences, it is an overwhelming task but I thought it proper to pay homage to someone so important to me and many others alike.
As many of you may have known my mom in her later years of life as a real estate agent or an advocate of the community there was another part of her. Some of you may not know but she was an up and coming actress who was about to go places.
In 1966 she was the national spokeswoman for M&Ms, she had a syndicated television show for children, did broad way, was in a motion picture with Rock Hudson, and was a resident actress on soap opera. When she married my father, she had a pivotal decision in her life that would affect not only her, but mine and community of Great Falls. She was given the decision of either moving to California to pursue a most likely very successful acting career, or move to DC with her new husband so he could take a comfortable government job and start a family. She chose the latter. You see from a very young age she was always sacrificing herself for others. This time it was her career for the hope of having a child, which a few years later would be. When I later asked her about this, she responded that it was the best decision of her life and never regretted it. I often wonder ‘what if’ she had chosen the former, who would she had become, what would her life had been..
In the mid 1980’s during a time of fear and biases, and against great disapproval of my father, she volunteered for one of the first AIDS hospices in Northern Virginia. While many housed fear and disgust of those afflicted with the disease, my mother only saw people in need of compassion and empathy…
As many of you have known my mother as a real estate agent, most probably do not know why she took up the profession. At the time, I was not doing well in school, and my father had basically written me off. She took the job so that she could send me to a private school so that I may have a future. Her support and encouragement helped me accomplish two master’s degrees for which I am so thankful for.
While some are quick to profess their faith, my mother quietly practiced in the way she lived. In real estate she became involved in her client’s lives. Often crying with clients over a divorce or death of a spouse and befriending many for life.
She was an advocate of the little Great Falls she loved and tried to preserve its quaintness and fought the zoning laws to keep big business and large developments from changing the face of this little town. She fought for funding so that the old school and post office by the grange could be preserved. She was a voracious reader and her greatest accomplishment was to get the funding for the Great Falls library allocated so it could be built. And lastly she was proud to be part of the Freedom memorial to pay homage for those who gave their life for our freedom that we enjoy.
For you to understand my closeness with my mother you have to know my parents and their contrasts. While I learned much from my father in the ways of home and car repair, being stoic and pragmatic it was my mother who taught me love, compassion and empathy. When I broke up from my first love and I was upset my father’s response was that it was not worth crying over a piece of lost tail, it was my mom who laid in bed with me, consoled me and told me that I would later find someone who was deserving of me. She took me fishing, read to me, and shared countless laughs and giggles. As a kid, she was my everything.
My final words are to my mother. I wish I could convey how proud and thankful I am to have had you as my mom. You were always my greatest advocate, confidant and flag bearer. You have given unmeasurable amounts of encouragement, love, compassion and empathy. Your forty-six years of devotion to my dad, especially in his final years of life where nothing short of inspiring.
You have shown me that while tangibles degrade and our bodies fail, only our love and family endure. I only hope that for what life I have left, I can make you proud by being a good husband and father and I hope that one day Elli will have as positive an influence on others as you were to me. Your body may be gone, but your spirit and love will forever endue in the countless number of people you affected in your life, none more than me. Goodbye my everything, my mom.

Dear John, It was with such sadness that I received notification from Doris that your Mom died! Margie and I have been friends for 74 years! I lived in Wading River and my sister, Ginny, also deceased, Doris and your Mom and I had so many wonderful times together! I remember your Mom when she looked exactly as the picture shows and she was an absolute beautiful woman with lots of young men wishing to be with her or just to speak to her. When your Grandfather Hesse died, I was living in Florida and I drove down to Anna Maria Island to be with your Mom and Grandmother. You were just a little boy. You were so cute, curly hair and that winning smile, like your Mom! I knew your Dad, also. He was such a sweet man witrh the boylike quality of an eight-year-old! I was so hoping to see your Mom this summer. Good luck to you and your wife and your son. If you are ever in the Wading River area, I am selling this house in Yorktown Heights and moving to W.R. (631)-929-4404..same #.probably still in your Mom's phone book! Love to you all! Lou Nestor

Marge loved books! And in all my years with the Great Fall Library I could always count on her having our collective back when it came to library politics. More than one time she saved us from closing and she had direct influence on the current library's existence. But beyond that she was the essence of optimism and good humor. She added sparkle to the day! My condolences to you, John, Jennifer and Elli. You have lost a vibrant part of your lives, but I'm sure are blessed with a lifetime of cherished memories.

Marge was my best friend. I was so lucky to have a caring and amazing person like her in my life. Inseparable during our youth, our bond was never broken, even though we were far apart in later years. She had a spark and a flair like no other person I have ever known. She was wonderfully kind and compassionate to all. She helped people and animals alike. My condolences go out to John and family, including her fabulous dog Trinity.
