Obituary of Stanley Lee Rynex

Stanley Lee Rynex, 86, of Sterling, VA, passed away on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016. Born January 22, 1930 in Washington DC, Stan was raised and spent his childhood years in Arlington, Va. He was the son of the late Walter C Rynex and the late Ethel Middleton Rynex of Arlington, Va. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter C Rynex Jr of Falls Church Va. and his sister, Dorothy Hall of Arlington, Va. Stan spent his early years growing up in Arlington Va. He graduated from Washington Lee High School in 1948. Shortly thereafter, he entered the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. After leaving the Navy, Stan attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Va., where he received a BS in Business in 1957. He was active during his time at VPI, serving on many social committees as well as the Cheer Leading team. In 1955 he met and fell in love with his future wife, Betty W. Wagner. He and Betty were married the following year on 24 March 1956. After graduation, Stan and Betty relocated to the Northern Va. Area, eventually moving to Sterling Park Va., in March of 1963 where they raised their family and still reside today. Stan was a dedicated public servant working as a personnel and payroll specialist for the United States Government including the Department of Justice, Immigration and Nationalization Service and the Drug Enforcement Agency. He retired from the federal government in 1992. Stan had many hobbies and enjoyed wood working, gardening, building and flying radio controlled airplanes, sailing, camping and any place on the water. But most of all, he enjoyed sitting in the warm sun, on his back porch, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of Betty W Rynex of Sterling, Va. In addition, he is survived by his 3 children. Stanley L Rynex Jr. of Sterling, Va., Richard C Rynex of Warrenton, Va., and Susan Reid of Sterling, Va. He also is survived by 6 granddaughters whom he loved dearly. Sarah Rynex Willis of Stone Ridge Va., Christie Rynex Rickers of South Riding, Va,, Katie Rynex of Leesburg, Va., Emily Rynex of Sterling, Va,. Lauren Reid of Leesburg, Va., and Lindsey Reid of Leesburg, Va. He is also survived by his son-in-law John Reid of Sterling, Va., and his daughter-in-law Leslie Rynex of Warrenton, Va. A private memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
