Obituary of Violet E. Buss

Violet E Buss February 16, 1921 – July 29, 2016 Violet was born on February 16, 1921, in Little Suamico, WI. Her husband, Willard; son, David; son-law, Paul; parents, Robert and Lydia; and sisters, Dorothy and Shirley pre deceased her in death. Violet grew up on a farm. She graduated from Oconto High School in 1938. She received her teaching certificate in 1940 from The Wisconsin State Teachers College in Oshkosh. She taught all eight grades in a one-room school for several years. A life-long Lutheran, Violet met her husband, Willard, of over 55 years at Calvary Lutheran Church where both were very active. They married in June 16, 1951, and lived on a farm in Abrams, WI. Violet taught 1-2 grade in the Brookside Elementary School. Daughter, Hedy was born in 1952, and 10 years later a son, David who only lived one day. Violet received her BS in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1960. In 1962, the family moved to Green Bay. Violet taught first grade at Langlade Elementary School. They were active members of Faith Lutheran Church. Violet retired in 1983 after a 40 year teaching career. Willard and Violet had an active retirement. They traveled around the United States visiting nearly every state; and Greece, Turkey and Germany in Europe. They attended Packer Football games and the Indy 500 race for 20 years. They loved visiting Virginia to see their Granddaughter, Rachael. Both Violet and Willard embraced life in retirement. They moved to Virginia in 2005. Violet took care of Willard until he passed away in 2007. Violet declined in her later years due to dementia but she loved to play cards, games, and listen to music. She met her new Great-Grandson, Paul in March. Violet was a woman of faith and a dedicated servant of Christ. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Hedy; Granddaughter, Rachael; Great-Grandson, Paul; extended family and all those who knew her.
