Obituary of Yvonne Paige Baker

Please share a memory of Yvonne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Yvonne Paige Baker departed this life on Thursday August 18, 2016 at the Potomac Falls Rehabilitation Center in Sterling, VA after a brief stay. Yvonne was born on November 10, 1937 to the late Lee Edward Sr. and Mabel F. Baylor Paige. She was educated in Manassas, Virginia and Washington, DC. Yvonne joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Sterling, Virginia at an early age and was a faithful member until her health prevented her from attending regularly. In 1971, Yvonne married her lifelong friend and “love of her life” Franklin “Pete” Baker and was a devoted and loving wife for 45 years until she took her last breath. Yvonne loved “stuff” and was known to save and collect every and anything she could. She was very particular about money and always taught everyone, particularly the young people to “save while you’re young.” Yvonne worked for Giant Foods, Inc. for 28 years until she retired in 1999. She also loved “selling” and sold everything from jewelry and clothing to home decor. She was known to many in the local communities as “the Home Interior Lady” as she was a sales rep for Home Interior & Gifts for more than 20 years helping many to beautify their homes on a regular basis. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her FAMILY, particularly her children and her grandbabies. But she also loved being around her sisters and nieces – especially around her birthday because many times they would all get together for crabs. Yvonne was a jewel. She had an infectious smile and personality and was always in a good mood. She was a pillar of strength. The epitome of a wife, mother, sister and friend. She was a very special individual and loved by everyone who knew her. She touched the lives of all she came in contact with. Yvonne was loving, caring, kind and was always willing to help anyone who was in need, even if she did not know them. Yvonne was full of life and energy and was always on the go. She was a go-getter! She was a God-fearing woman and she trusted and believed that God had a plan and on August 18th He peacefully called this Angel home. She leaves to cherish her memory – her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Pete of Centreville, VA; son – Anthony W. Paige (Faye); daughters Veronica R.B. Caldwell (Roger) and baby girl, Francita Y. Baker. Stepchildren: Virginia Baker and Franklin Baker, Jr. (Evelyn). She was the very proud grandmother of three, Roger Anthony Caldwell, Jamal Anthony Paige and Alexandra Faye Paige – these three were her greatest joys. Stepgrand (and great grand) children: Angel Wiley (Taylor Rae Wiley), Franklin Baker, III (Zachariah and Martika Baker); LaTisha Baker Jones (Marcus Jones) and Donald Baker. Loving and devoted god-children Tammie V. Crank (Terry), Stephanie J. Paige, and Kenneth F. Compton. Four sisters: Ester Marie Terrell, Ada L. Jackson, Shelia M. Compton, and Laverne P. Berry; two brothers: Lee E. Paige Jr. (Olena) and George R.H. Paige, Sr. (Lucille). One sister in-law: Getrude Brooks and two brothers in-law Joseph Baker (Loretta) and Leon Wright (Patra). Yvonne also leaves several very special friends/adopted sisters who were all very near and dear to her heart. A host of loving nieces and nephews, each of whom held special places in her heart and a plethora of cousins, relatives and friends. Services for Yvonne Paige Baker will be held on Saturday August 27, 2016 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church at 22870 Dominion Lane in Sterling, VA. Viewing will be 10:00AM to 12 Noon.
