Obituary of Malcolm Holden Gray

Malcolm Holden Gray, retired Foreign Service Officer, died of cancer on 29 August 2016 at Adler Hospice Center, Aldie, Virginia. He was 75 years of age.
Born on 5 October 1940 in Taunton, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Arthur E. Gray and Lucille Holden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Morton, Robert, and David.
He graduated from Taunton High School. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Reserve. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from Brown University.
Mr. Gray joined the Foreign Service in 1966 and retired in 1995. His overseas postings included Latin America, Europe, and Africa.
During his lifetime, Mr. Gray was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. He was a prolific reader, lover of art, classical music, ballet, opera, and loved to travel. He possessed an incredible sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia, his daughter Kimberly, his son Matthew (Renata), seven grandchildren: Mitchell, Zachary, Deryne, Sara, Noah, Jonah, and Elise. His sister Jacqueline (Rick), and brothers, Arthur (Terri), James, Paul, his aunt Marilyn, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, Shriners Hospital for Children, The Little Sisters of the Poor or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
