Died on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at his home in Sterling, VA. Born in Maryland on September 8, 1928 to Major and Blanche Ashby. Husband of the late Elsie Louise Ashby. He is survived by his son Michael Dodson and his wife Melinda Heavener. Grandchildren: Ricky L. Dodson; Brandy Viering; Jennifer Ashby; Tammy Ashby Pearson; Brian Ashby; Patty Ashby Chavez. Son in law: Bill Viering, Daughter-in-law: Linda Ashby. Sister: Carloyn Phillips. Donald is also survived by several great grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion and the Herndon Moose Lodge. Family will receive friends from 4-7pm on Saturday, September 17 at ADAMS-GREEN Funeral Home in Herndon, VA and on Sunday, September 18 from 6-8pm at Wilhelm Brandi Funeral Home in Lonaconing, MD. Interment will be held on Monday, September 19 in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Barton, MD.
