As my pediatrician, I was scared to death of Dr. Farrell Sr. As an adult, he was my kids first pediatrician (then John jr). He was also a dear friend to our family growing up in Reston & a fellow ND Grad. Attended all the ND Parties with my parents! I have so many fond memories of Dr. Farrell and he will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Farrell Family during this difficult time. Love & hugs!

Our family loved Dr. Farrell. He took wonderful care of our four sons, beginning in 1978 when our first son was born through 2003 when our fourth graduated from high school.
He was a dear man who provided a smile and reassurance particularly when one of our sons was diagnosed with a debilitating condition.

We are saddened by the passing of Dr. John Farrell, who took care of our son, Andy, from the time of his birth until about age 18. As well, John and Nancy were family friends and colleagues. We especially enjoyed the interest John took in Andy's bridge game! He will be missed.

I found out that Doc Farrell this passed away this past weekend. To me, Doc Farrell, was a special, special man and a pillar in the Reston Community. He was a decorated Vietnam Vet, a Notre Dame Graduate, and a pediatrician that provided health care for children from Reston and the surrounding communities. He helped give birth, to what seemed like half the kids in the Reston area. In addition to playing a mean game of ping-pong, he was a Life Master Bridge player and played an awesome piano. Anytime I was invited to he, and his wife Nancy's home, he jumped on the piano and started bangin the keys, singing out oldies and show tunes. He was quick with a joke and always had a great story. He always seemed to have a smile on his face. He loved life , grabbed and lived it to the hilt.......I cannot express enough from the bottom of my heart how much I will miss this man dearly. Rest in Peace, Doc. I am honored to have known you as a friend and I know God is smiling having you home. I know he has a special place for you next to him.

John David was my godfather. I remember that he really loved being part of family events and had a great sense of humor and liked to laugh (something we could all learn to do). I was really touched when he and Nancy traveled to Ohio to attend my mom's 90th birthday party. That meant a lot to me. A phenomenal piano player as well. I'll never forget years ago when they surprised everyone at the Hurray family reunion in Salem, Ohio and rolled out the piano from behind the curtain for him to play it. He also played for the family after his mom died, and played a nice tribute to Aunt Helen a few years ago. Thanks for the memories.

I (George) was a friend and classmate of John's at Campion HS in 1951-1955. We got back in touch near the year 2000, and have been in touch since. My wife Lorraine and I have visited with John and his wife Nancy at many Campion reunions. We have visited them at their home in Reston.
I am so proud to have known John. He was a considerate, thoughtful, knowledgeable gentleman, with a sense of humor.
We will keep John and Nancy in our thoughts and prayers.
