Jacqueline “Jackie” Shoaf of Sterling, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Born December 31, 1929 in Hagerstown, MD she has spent the last 58 years living in Virginia as the beloved wife of Marvin M. Shoaf and loving mother to Sandra Shoaf Bruner. Daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Raymond M. Hill, she is survived by her brother, George F. Hill, four nieces and ten grand nieces and nephews, son-in-law Tom Bruner, sister-in-law Patricia Shoaf and brother-in-law William Shoaf. She was predeceased by her sister Vinona Deeds and brother Dr. Robert Hill. Jackie was a graduate of Hagerstown High School and Columbia Business College where she later taught typing and penmanship. She was also a legal secretary for many years in Hagerstown. An excellent athlete, she excelled at bowling winning dozens of awards and trophies. Along with her great love of all the animals that she owned or the wild ones that visited her feeders every day, Jackie particularly loved working in her yard tending to her many flower beds at the home she and her husband built in 1961 in Richland Acres, Sterling, VA. She will be missed by all of the friends she made living in Sterling, friends from her travels with Marvin to Masonic functions and her family in Hagerstown. Jackie lived a fully active life and was always there to help. The world is a better place for her having been here and she will be greatly missed and never forgotten. The family will receive friends at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm.
