Wanda Marie-Thérèse (Nowinksky) Cote 79, of Reston, VA, formerly of Auburn MA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.Born on August 8th,1937 in Boston, MA. She was the daughter of the late Stephen J. Nowinsky and the late Josephine (Ferdinand) Nowinsky. She has now joined her loving husband of 47 years Richard E Cote who passed away on October 29, 2011.
Left to mourn Wanda's passing are her two daughters Rose Marie Fiske (John) of Brentwood CA and Holly Cote Peckham of Reston VA; Her son, Andrew Blazejewski of Falls Church, VA; Her grandchildren, Sara E Donovan (Daniel) of NY, NY; Samantha N Fournier (Brandon) of Assonet, MA; Noelle M Croce (Peter) of Biddeford, Maine; Lance Corporal USMC Nicholas A Fiske (Ret) of Orleans; Kimberly R Cote Peckham of Hyannis, MA; Jacob M Fiske Brentwood, CA; her brothers Arthur H. Nowinsky (Elaine), Bel Air, MD; Stephen F. Nowinsky (Lillian), Benson, AZ; 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers William A Nowinsky (Kathy), Newport News, VA; Joseph M. Nowinsky (Mary Ann) Florence, TX; sisters Cecilia Matthews and Lorry Richardson.
Mrs. Cote attended the St. Vincent's School of Nursing and was employed as a Nurse's Aide and Unit Secretary at St. Vincent's Hospital Worcester, MA for over 25 years. Upon retirement she resided on Cape Cod and in California before settling in Reston, VA.
Wanda had a beautiful voice and in her younger years sang at various clubs in Worcester, MA and was for many years a soprano with the choir at Holy Name of Jesus Church.
She had great affinity for cats and always had a lap available. She enjoyed old movies and romance novels. She was on a bowling league for many years in her youth. She treasured her grandchildren and established a personal connection with each one. She was a great friend to many and her presence in the lives of everyone she knew will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Massachusetts National Cemetery Connery Ave, Bourne, MA 02532.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 N Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325-0300, a non-profit organization that was a favorite charity of Wanda's. Arrangements entrusted to Adams Green Funeral Home.
