Obituary of William Francis Gilley

Col (Ret) William F Gilley, 84, formerly of Richmond, VA, passed away peacefully at his home in Reston, VA on October 4, 2016. Born December 14, 1931, in Pilkeville, KY to the late Jesse Garrett. and Anna Louise Huffman Gilley. A Retired U.S. Army Colonel, Vietnam veteran, recipient of the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. He was a retiree from the Virginia Health Department. A graduate of Virginia Military Institute and Johns Hopkins University. He is survived by his wife Anne Gilley, son David Gilley, daughter Lynne Larabee, and 5 grandsons. A funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel. The burial will follow at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Guests attending should enter through the Hatfield Gate off of 2nd Street South if you do not hold a military ID and arrive at the chapel by 8:15am.
