Obituary of John Leslie Fuller

John Leslie Fuller, the son of Leslie George Fuller and Iris Fuller (formerly Iris Dodson), was born on November 4, 1919 in Long Beach, California. He died on October 14, 2016. John graduated from Berkeley High School in 1937 where he met his future wife, Priscilla Mae Cook, who played in the band with him. He went on to the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1943. His wife, Mae, to whom he was married for 73 years, pre-deceased him in June 2015. John is survived by five children, George Stuart Fuller, Oakley, California; Carolyn Ann Fuller, Yountville, California; Geoffrey Dodson Fuller and his wife Lisa, North Potomac, Maryland; Alison Gail Fuller, Nashville, Tennessee; Jennifer Leslie Fuller, San Antonio, Texas and eighteen grandchildren and great grandchildren. John began his career with United Air Lines after serving in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired after working at United for 37 years. Following retirement, John traveled the world with his wife Mae. A man of many interests, he acted in plays with the Reston Players, sang in a barbershop quartet, played French horn in a brass quintet, sang in the Reston Chorale, played golf, recorded text books for Recording for the Blind and was active in the church and choir at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Herndon, Virginia. He eventually settled with his wife in Fairfax, Virginia where he lived until his death. Family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. with reception to follow on Friday, October 21 at St. Timothy Episcopal Church, 432 Van Buren Street, Herndon, VA.
