Obituary of Scarlett Yvonne McMonigle

Scarlett Yvonne McMonigle, 54, of Herndon, VA passed peacefully on Sunday, October 16th in her home while surrounded by family.
Born on January 25th, 1962 in Stuttgart, Germany, Scarlett was the daughter of Lieselotte E. and Charles W. Pearson. She spent most of her childhood in Germany before their family was stationed overseas. She attended Shawnee High School in Louisville, KY and later moved back to Germany, graduating from Kaiserslautern High School in 1979. Later that year, she welcomed her first daughter, Nicole, into the world and moved just outside of Boston.
On April 19th, 1986, she married John D. McMonigle and two years later, welcomed her second daughter, Natalie, into the world. In 1991, Scarlett earned a B.S. in Business Administration & Management from The University of Phoenix- Albuquerque campus. She spent her career as Director of the Adult Continuing Education “ACE” program at Ramstein Air Base in Germany and later worked for a defense contractor, Innolog. Scarlett worked many years as a substitute teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools.
Scarlett’s passion for life, optimistic attitude, loyalty, warm personality and devotion to helping others was part of her core- anyone who has met her knows this. She maintained an active role in the local community and volunteered through Herndon Woman’s Club, Herndon United Methodist Church Morning Glory Circle, National MS Society and singing in the Wesley Choir at HUMC. She loved traveling, listening to music, gardening and cooking.
Scarlett is survived by her husband of 30 years, John McMonigle, of Herndon, VA; two daughters and spouse- Nicole and Russell Knight of Fairfax, VA; Natalie of Denver, CO; three brothers and their spouses- Markus and Cherie Pearson of Menifee, CA; Martin and Kim Pearson of Thornton, CO; Olaf and Seglinde Christian of Tuttlingen, Germany; sister, Jasmin Pearson of Fountain, CO; mother, Lieselotte E. Pearson of Fountain, CO. She is also survived by 4 nieces and 4 nephews.
The family will receive friends at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA on Thursday, October 20th from 6PM-8PM. Funeral services will be held at Herndon United Methodist Church on Friday, October 21st at 11AM with Senior Pastor, Gary L. Robbins, officiating. Burial will follow at 12PM at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to National Multiple Sclerosis Society- Greater DC-Maryland Chapter in Washington
