Obituary of Mary Ann Murphy

Sterling - MaryAnn (nee Trimbach) Murphy 89, died peacefully at her home on Friday, October 21, 2016 after a short illness surrounded by her devoted family. She was born in Buffalo, New York, and was the daughter of late Clem G. Trimbach and Teresa A. Kager-Trimbach. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James H. Murphy, in 1996. Born in 1927 she was a prolific dancer and dance teacher/director for many years, well known in the Buffalo area for putting on numerous dance recitals and ballroom dancing events. She graduated from Amherst High School outside Buffalo, New York. In 1954 she was married to James Henry Murphy a marketing director for several major defense companies, and had a beautiful marriage lasting nearly 42 years. A professional dance instructor for many years, she also was very active and recent President of the over-50 club, in Great Falls, Virginia. Very involved in her church and communicant at St Catherine's of Siena, Great Falls, Virginia and regularly attended Our Lady of Hope Catholic church in Sterling, Virginia. She was the owner/operator of Friendly Travelers arranging one-day jaunts to 10 day ocean cruises or European destinations. She often worked to set up travel outings and daytrips for many of her neighborhood and church friends. Traveling frequently, she enjoyed making and organizing these trips that were her true passion. Doting on her grandchildren and assisting her "senior" friends also took up much of her time. Very active until the last month of her life, she was admired for being so full of life. She is survived by her five children; David J. Murphy of Hampstead Maryland his wife Terry Sipes-Murphy, Anne Marie Ruppert of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and her husband Mark Ruppert, Kathleen Murphy Buddin of Woodstock, Georgia, and her husband Chip Buddin, Michael J. Murphy of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, and Mary Colleen Ross, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, her husband Andrew Ross, brother Joseph Trimbach, of Lakeland, Florida and his wife Kathleen, Predeceased by brother Thomas Trimbach of Okemos, Michigan and Eugene Trimbach of Dayton, Ohio. She leaves behind, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and one great grandchild. Viewing will be at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, Virginia, Tuesday October 25 from 5 to 7PM. A Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Algonkian and Cascades Pkwy. Sterling, Virginia on Wednesday October 26 at 11AM. Rev. William P. Saunders will be officiating. Reception immediately following the service will be at St. Catherine's of Siena, 1020 Springvale Rd. Great Falls, Virginia. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of MaryAnn to the Hospice of Vienna (8545 Boone BLVD, Vienna, Virginia) American Diabetes Association or the St. Jude Children Cancer Hospital.
