Obituary of Mark Stanley Greenberg

On Monday, November 28, 2016, Mark Greenberg died in Reston, Virginia at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Slattery, and two children, Erin and Danielle Greenberg. Mark had a successful career in politics, working in Legislative Director roles at the Massachusetts State Senate, the US House of Representatives and the US Senate. Mark served as a Special Assistant in the Reagan/Bush administration to President Reagan in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs. There, he lobbied the Senate on behalf of the White House on issues including defense, banking, energy, small business and intelligence. Previously, Mark served as Administrative Assistant and Legislative Director for former Senator Paul Trible (R-VA), concentrating on national security, foreign policy and economic issues. Mark also served in Sen. Trible's congressional office as a Legislative Assistant and on his gubernatorial campaign in Virginia as Director of Research. In New York City, Mr. Greenberg was the Program Director for the Institute for Educational Affairs. There he supervised the administration of educational foundation grant programs totaling $1 million annually. Mark became a private practice lobbyist, focused on municipal, educational, transportation, and defense policy. Mark graduated cum laude from Kenyon College, earned a Master’s from Claremont Graduate School, and completed his doctoral course work at Boston College. He taught courses at Kenyon, Quincy Junior and Boston Colleges. Mark was the son of Louis and Minnie Greenberg of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. A funeral will be held at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 3rd.
