Obituary of Joseph Wesley Seale

Mr. Joseph Wesley Seale, 92, of Great Falls, VA passed away on January 12th peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was the husband of Helen Mae Shifflett Seale his wife of 72 and a half years. Born in McLean, VA he was the son of the late John and Mary Seale. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and later received an honorable discharge. Mr. Seale was employed for many years as a truck driver before starting J.W. Seale Excavating, a business run by himself and his wife for 20 years. After retiring the business he went to work for his good friend Gary Schmitz at Seneca Excavating and Landscaping until he retired. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by; a brother, Haywood (Mary) of Berryville, VA; a daughter Janie of Front Royal, VA; a son Joseph (Sandra) of Woodstock, VA; 5 grandchildren, Sheri (Danny) of Frederick, MD, Christy (Dave) of Cape May Court House, NJ, Joseph (Jennifer) of Culpeper, VA, Gina of Paradise, CA and John of Winchester, VA; 11 great grandchildren, Tenaya, Tiffany, Jacquie, Delia, Christopher, Jenna, Daniel, Harley, Sean, Colbie and Jamie; 4 great great grandchildren, Jolene, Jackson, Wyatt and Charlotte (on the way) and a host of nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by; 5 sisters, Rebecca, Maggie, Beulah, Lucy and Gertrude; a half-sister Minnie; 3 brothers, Charlie, Robert and John; a half-brother Edward and a great grandson Jonathon. Joe was passionate about his business and running the bulldozer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing especially when his children or grandchildren came along. He took pleasure in picnics and long walks with his family. He was fond of Beagles and owned many hunting dogs over the years. He was a Western movie and Bluegrass music fan. He had a great sense of humor and took pleasure in making others laugh. He most loved the laughter of his grandchildren and entertained them with silly songs, funny faces and by wiggling his ears. Joe was a very loving and devoted family man and was respected by all who met him. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 17th and a funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18th, both being held at Adam's Green Funeral Home in Herndon, VA. Following the service Interment will be at Arnon Chapel Cemetery in Great Falls, VA.
