just saw this obit as I was searching S.U. football. I was 10 yrs. old and remember George and Mary, as they lived in apt. next door to my Aunt's on E. Genesee St. Syracuse NY. My aunt would take me to the football games at Archbold. I was proud to know George (Mr. Brazel) and his wife Mary. George, my uncle Gene and I would play cards together (probably poker!) lots of times when I was at their house. As a ten year old I always thought he was sooo cute!! Mary was beautiful. Just a few memories!! So sorry to hear of his passing.

Mary, I was so sad to hear about the passing of George. I remember well the wonderful times we had in Syracuse . He was a fantastic person and I treasure the times we had together. I last had dinner with him while I was at Leesburg, it was a great time.
I have tried to look him up on many occasions but was never able to do it, hopefully he understood this, please accept our sincere condolences from Marcia and I. I hope this finds you and yours well.

It is hard to believe that it has been over two months since you have left us. I still feel that I can pick up the phone and talk to you about the Redskins or our days having fun and working together. I often think and pray for you.
I remind myself of the legacy that you have left. You have accomplished many of your life’s goals. That, in itself, leaves a lasting inspiration for all of us. Very few things in life come to us easy. You have indeed worked diligently and overcame many obstacles to leave a legacy that will endure forever with your family, friends and other lives that you have touched.
Your greatest legacy that you left has been your adoring wife Mary and your four well cared for children Robert, Cindy, Judy and Susan.

I miss you every single day, Daddy. There's a hole in my heart that will never heal. I miss your laughter, your advice, your loving words; I mostly miss you saying "I love you, kid". Almost 30 years ago, Bob and I began a friendship that today is no less than a brotherhood. During that time, the Brazel family became my family and with it, George became another father figure in my life. His sense of humor, his passion for life, and his straight shooter approach reinforced how a gentlemen conducts himself.

I always looked up to you and have nothing but fond memories from back in the day.Your sage advice to me as a young man did not fall on deaf ears. You were an excellent role model in all respects. To me you "had it all".

We have had the good fortune to know George for 44 years. When I first met George, I found him to be friendly, outgoing, sharp, charismatic and driven to succeed, not so much for himself, but for his loving family. He was the one who always put you at ease by listening, giving advice or telling you a joke or two. Over the years, he never lost the meaningful essence of who he was and for that I am proud to call him my friend. So, my good friend, we have shared our last joke, dinner and beer together. I will never forget those good times.
I will also never forget the opportunities you gave me that changed my life. May God keep you in his grace and bestow happiness and peace to your wonderful wife Mary and all of your family.
