Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Roberts

Elizabeth ("Liz") Roberts, 78, of Reston, VA, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, January 9, 2017 at 10:24 a.m. with her husband and family gathered by her side. Born on October 25, 1938, in Alexandria, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Thomas Adrian Smith and the late Pearl Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Watts, her brother Adrian Smith, her grandson Whitney Roberts, Jr., and her great granddaughter Klara Morgan Knight. Liz was a lifelong resident of Virginia, and worked for many years with her husband and all three of her children in their family business Roberts Carpets and Oriental Rugs, a long time fixture in downtown Herndon, Virginia. Liz was a congregant at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, Maryland, and enjoyed traveling with her husband to various destinations in the western Caribbean. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Charles Franklin Roberts, her daughter Deborah Roberts Knight, her sons Clayton Roberts and Whitney Roberts, ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren with number fourteen being born at any moment! She enjoyed all of these precious children and was blessed to have them around often as they lived in the area close to her. She was affectionally called, "Mimi." The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.until 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Adams Green Funeral Home, Herndon, VA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Adam Green Funeral Home with Dr. Doug Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, Virginia immediately following the funeral service, which in turn will be followed by a reception at her daughter's home.
