Obituary of Robert Basil Cecil

Robert Basil Cecil, age 86, passed away at his home in Herndon, Virginia on February 25, 2017. Born in New York City on May 5, 1930, he was the son of Basil and Neva Cecil. Upon graduation from the University of Vermont, 1st Lieutenant Cecil served his country as a Radar Specialist in the United States Air Force. Once his commitment to the military had been satisfied Robert put his prodigious writing talent to work in the newspaper industry, penning for such publications as the Bridgeport Post and Philadelphia Inquirer. He successfully transferred his professional skills to the world of publications relations for the remainder of his career, working for Philadelphia architecture firm Vincent Kling & Associates, GTE, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. During his spare time, he took pleasure in absorbing, and creating, various forms of artistic expression. Literature, photography, creative writing, and wood working were some of his most passionate pursuits. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Alicemae, and his twin sons Bret and Bart.
