Obituary of Mary Etta Moreland

Mary Etta Moreland On March 27, 2017, Mary Etta Moreland passed away at her residence in Ashburn, VA. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Edward Moreland (Bob), she is survived by her loving daughters, Christine Miller (James), Susan Roudebush (Dale), Penelope Moreland-Gunn, and Roberta Moreland. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Kaercher, her grandchildren, Matthew Miller (Shannon), David Szewczyk (Ashley), Adrianne Trumpy (Jason), Joseph Szewczyk, Amy Moss (James), Paul Szewczyk, Mary Hicks (Matthew), Alexandra Clark (Darrell), Peter Szewczyk, Marietta Weisman (Brett), step grandchild, Amy Sethi (Shawn), great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 19, 1922. She graduated from Saint Raphael’s Grade School and High School. After moving to Washington, DC to work for the US Navy Department, she met and married her beloved husband, Bob. They settled in Falls Church, Virginia and raised four daughters. After obtaining her realtor’s license in the late 1950’s she worked as an agent at Brown and Brown Realty in Falls Church. Mary received her broker’s license in the early 1960’s and eventually joined Royce Latham and two other partners to form Citation Homes, Inc. Continuing in partnership with Royce for over forty years, Mary was a successful broker and active in the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. She held leadership positions with the Business and Professional Women’s Association, promoting the interests of working women. After the death of her husband in 2008 she retired from real estate and moved to Ashby Ponds Senior Living in Ashburn, Virginia. There she became active in the community and most especially loved playing in two bridge leagues. The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Sunday April 2, 2017 at Adams-Green Funeral Home 721 Elden St. Herndon, VA 20170. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30am on Monday April 3, 2017 at St. Theresa Catholic Church 21370 St. Theresa Lane Ashburn, VA 20148. Interment will be private.
